Grits How To video and written tutorial.

As I get more and more Pack Bait videos up on youtube I think back to when I first started to make them. Its been about 6 years now and the little tricks you learn over the years make all the difference. In this video I show how to make a simple grits packbait from start to finish.

Ingredients are 18oz Instant Grits
9oz Quick Grits
1 can cream style corn
1 capful (roughly 7.5ml's) CC Moore Cranberry flavor

All you have to do is mix the grits in a bowl so they are evenly distributed and then add a little cream corn in about 1/4th of the can. You then take your flavor and add it into the can and mix it up. What this does is spreads your flavor through the wetter so you don't have concentrated areas in your pack bait which you do not want. You mix it up until there are no more dry spots left and then let it sit for 5 minutes so it fully absorbs everything. This will last around 6 hours and make sure you keep a lid on it so it does not dry out.

Next in the video you can see that I overly packed the bait and it was not breaking fast. You can either use less compressions or add quick grits to the mix. Quick grits are the breaker and Instant grits are the binder so you can add either one to the mix depending on how your break times are. Also the more compressions you do the slower the break and the less compressions the faster the break time. Cold water will make it break slower as well and obviously warm water will make it break faster. Knowing how to correct each situation will allow the bait to work correctly.

Also a really great way to use this is in pva bags or mesh as it compresses nicely and explodes when the bag melts. The mix will form an up and down effect and will constantly have movement around the hookbait attracting carp in very fast.

I hope you enjoy this how to video and don't forget to keep checking back and also subscribing to my youtube channel to learn more..

How to make Rice Packbait /video included

I have been working on different videos over winter and that leads us to my second packbait video. This one shows you how to make a rice pack bait from start to finish and it also includes the breakdown times and how to change this. I used an aquarium and you can see how it works underwater to give you the best results.

I will be bringing many more videos out in the next few weeks including many more bait videos along with rigs and sessions. Thanks for looking and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Spring Anticipation

Well it is February 14th, It is valentines day and I figured I would add a small blog. Every year I find myself taking a drive out to a local lake in anticipation of spring and all the fun I will be having while carp fishing. As you can see in the photo above the lake is frozen solid with no signs of thawing for a month or so.

Every year is different on what areas thaw first and I could never figure out why that is. The first thawed sections will always hold the fish first as it is the first area to receive food from the streams coming into the lake.

I often start going through my tackle as well this time of year because I know spring is right around the corner and it is always better to be prepared ahead of time than to do everything at the last possible minute.

I have been working on different video projects throughout the winter and I am hoping those will be of help to new anglers or even seasoned anglers with tips and tricks from rigs, baits and upcoming sessions I have planned out. So as the snow melts the excitement builds as I know it won't be long until I am back out on the bank again..

Oats Pack Bait How to Video

Today I thought I would talk about some of the things we use in the United States for carp fishing. This originated from the Southern Paylakes and is called and Oats Pack Bait. In paylaking this is molded around the bait but to integrate this into Euro style fishing You mold it around the lead. The reason for this is the fact that the speed of the lead will be faster than the pack on the bait so it will fly off on the cast. If you mold the pack bait around the lead it will not fly off of on the cast. A good rule of thumb if your pack is heavier than the lead you can mold it around the bait and if the lead is heavier than the pack you mold it around the lead.

Ingredient list for a simple Oats Pack Bait is 1 tub of old fashioned oats (42ozs) , 1 can cream style corn, 1 capful of CC Moore Pineapple Flavor.  Also in the video as an added binder I used roughly 1 tablespoon of CC Moore Maize Flour. Finally for a hook bait I am using CC Moore Pineapple Tiger Nuts  This is a very basic version and later I will do a more advance version for everyone to view.
