You can buy knuckle protectors as well or some models such as the Fox come with them already. You will have the pouch come back and hit you at some point so it is best to have some form of protection while using one so you don't injure your hand or cut your knuckles open.
You can buy different bands and pouches to cater to all types of baits and they are easy to change out from bait to bait.
